Rapper-singer Badshah has come under scrutiny after he failed to appear before the Haryana State Commission for Women in connection with the controversy surrounding his song “Tateeree”. The commission had summoned the artist over allegations that the song contains objectionable lyrics.

According to officials, Badshah did not appear before the panel on Friday despite the summons. Lawyers representing the singer appeared before the commission and informed members that the artist could not attend due to prior professional commitments. They requested additional time for him to appear.

However, when the singer still did not present himself within the given time, the commission decided to take further steps in the matter. Officials said the panel directed police authorities to initiate appropriate action in accordance with the law after the non-appearance.

Officials said that the commission has also reportedly asked the police to consider measures such as ensuring Badshah’s presence before the panel in the ongoing inquiry related to the controversial song.

The “Tateeree” song has sparked debate on social media, with some critics alleging that its lyrics are inappropriate and disrespectful towards women. The Haryana State Commission for Women had earlier taken cognisance of the issue and issued a notice seeking the singer’s explanation.
