Ahead of Punjab’s Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections scheduled for December 14, preparations, including security arrangements, are in full swing.
Amritsar Rural SSP Suhail Qasim Mir told news agency ANI on Friday that a special briefing for the forces assigned election duty was conducted today.
The SSP stated that around 3,000 security personnel are being deployed for the polls.
“We have adequate resources and manpower, and we will conduct the elections in a free, fair, and most importantly, peaceful manner,” he added.
Meanwhile, the State Election Commission, Punjab, has, in an order dated 11 December 2025, directed all District Electoral Officers cum Deputy Commissioners in the State to ensure a free, fair, and impartial election process.
The commission has directed the DCs not to hesitate to bring to the notice of the commission in case of any issue related to the smooth conduct of the election.
It has also directed to circulate appropriate directions and guidance to all returning officers (ROs) and presiding officers.
