Punjab Police Achieves Success in Disrupting Drug Network Operating from Pakistan; Heroin Worth Rs 84 Crore Intercepted

FEROZEPUR: In a significant crackdown on drug smuggling activities across the border, Punjab Police has thwarted smugglers attempting to traffic a substantial quantity of heroin. A total of 12 kilograms of heroin was seized, and two smugglers were apprehended by the Counter Intelligence (CI) team in Ferozepur. The value of this seized heroin is estimated to be around Rs 84 crore in the international market.

Sharing details of the operation, Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav mentioned that the operation was initiated based on intelligence inputs. The CI team in Ferozepur received information regarding the transportation of a heroin consignment by two smugglers from across the border. Acting swiftly, the CI team meticulously planned and executed a trap to intercept the smugglers.

The Successful operation led to the arrest of the two smugglers who were in the process of transporting the heroin consignment to a secure location under the cover of darkness. It was discovered that the consignment was intended to be further distributed by Indian smugglers within the country. DGP Yadav also noted that a thorough investigation has been initiated based on the information provided by the arrested smugglers.
