
Abolition of paper receipt system will be a major step towards a better & cleaner future: Aman Arora
CHANDIGARH: In yet another eco-friendly initiative, the Punjab Department of Administrative Reforms (DGR) will now send the receipts of fees paid for government services at service centers to applicants via SMS on their mobile phones. This will not only save 1.3 crore papers, but also reduce the burden of about Rs 80 lakh annually on the government exchequer.
Giving information in this regard, Punjab Administrative Reforms and Public Grievance Redressal Minister Aman Arora said that this service has been commenced from today. Abolition of paper receipt system will reduce carbon usage in service centers which will prove to be an important step towards a better and cleaner future. He said that the applicants will no longer have to worry about losing the paper receipts as now they will receive SMS.
The Administrative Reforms Minister said that digital receipts will have all the information available on normal paper receipts, but if an applicant wants to get a paper receipt, he will be given a signed and stamped receipt at no extra cost. The Minister Appealed people that they should be a part of this environment-friendly initiative of the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann by not asking for paper receipts.
Aman Arora said that the office copy of the receipt will be printed on the reverse side of the first page of the application form and will be signed and stamped by the operator of the service centers. In case of formless service, the receipt will be printed on the reverse side of the system generated form if required. Aman Arora said that digital receipts have already proved to be a successful alternative in today's digital age as they are very easy to store and access when needed.
He said that paperless fee receipt system will also save time of both service providers and users as it will also save time of printing receipts at counters at service centres. He said that this will also save the annual expenditure of about Rs 80 lakh on printing. Meanwhile, Director DGRPG, Girish Dayalan said that this system was developed by DGR, Designed and developed by its own software team, which includes Priyank Sharma, Sukhwinder Singh and Robin.
