Punjab’s INR 10 Lakh Cashless Health Scheme to Launch Jan 22; Check Eligibility
The Punjab Government is set to roll out its flagship universal health insurance initiative, the ‘Mukh Mantri Sehat Bima Yojana’, on January 22. Punjab Health Minister Dr Balbir Singh announced the updated launch date. He confirmed that the scheme will provide cashless medical insurance of up to INR 10 lakh per annum to every family in the state.
The initiative aims to provide universal health coverage to approximately 65 lakh families, regardless of their social or income status. To be eligible, residents must possess a Punjab Aadhaar card or voter ID.
Health Minister Dr Balbir Singh confirmed that pilot registration will commence this Tuesday across eight specific locations in Mohali’s Dera Bassi and Gharuan blocks.
To facilitate the initiative, authorities have identified 274 registration points, including district hospitals and Common Service Centres.
Notably, those already covered under the Ayushman Bharat scheme will receive a top-up of INR 5 lakh, with a maximum limit of INR 10 lakh. Residents will have access to a robust network of approximately 650 empanelled private hospitals and state-run medical universities.
