Abohar Murder Case: In Abohar's Tehsil complex in Punjab’s Fazilka district today, a young man who had come for a court appearance was shot by some people, resulting in his death and injuries to several others.
The deceased's body has been kept in the government hospital's mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
According to sources, Akash alias Golu Pandit, the son of the priest of the famous Johri Temple in Abohar, along with his friend Sonu and another person, arrived at the Tehsil complex in their car earlier today.
As soon as Golu Pandit stepped out after attending his court hearing and was about to get into his car, some youths opened fire on him. He was seriously injured, and the attackers fled the scene.
Golu's companions rushed him to hospital, where he was pronounced “dead”.
Sonu said that three to four youths fired about 5 to 6 shots at Golu Pandit, three of which hit his body, resulting in his death.
District SSP Gurmeet Singh immediately reached the hospital upon receiving information about the incident.
The attack, ahead of elections, has caused anger among the residents as well as the lawyers' community in the Tehsil complex. They demanded that the district police administration ensure the safety of the common people.
The SSP, who arrived at the hospital, said that Golu Pandit already had several criminal cases registered against him, and this incident is also related to “gang warfare”.
