Punjab Doctors Extend Strike, OPD Services to Be Closed Entire Day Tomorrow

The decision to extend the strike comes after ongoing talks with the government failed.

Punjab Doctors Strike Tomorrow Latest News: The doctors' strike in Punjab has escalated, as over 2,500 government doctors have announced the extension of their protest. The OPD services across Punjab will remain closed for the entire day tomorrow. The development took place following a crucial meeting between the Punjab Civil Medical Services Association (PCMSA) and Punjab Health Minister Balbir Singh.

The decision to extend the strike comes after ongoing talks with the government failed to resolve the issues raised by the doctors. The doctors, who had initially limited their strike to three hours daily, are now taking stronger action in support of their demands.

The doctors started their protest on September 9, with doctors suspending OPD services from 8 AM to 11 AM across health centers, including civil and district hospitals. However, the emergency services, post-mortem, and medicolegal examinations continued uninterrupted.

Key demands from the doctors include the reinstatement of the Assured Career Progression (ACP) scheme, the implementation of security measures for healthcare workers, the timely recruitment of medical officers, and the release of pending arrears from the Central Pay Commission (CPC).
