Taking another significant step towards ensuring better healthcare services for the public, Aam Aadmi Party MLA Dr Balbir Singh conducted a surprise inspection of various health centres in Fatehgarh Sahib district under Punjab’s Bhagwant Mann government. This inspection is part of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s vision, which emphasises providing quality medical facilities to patients in government hospitals and health centres. During this visit, Dr Singh assessed the medical staff, availability of medicines, and facilities being provided to patients.
During the surprise inspection, MLA Dr Balbir Singh held detailed discussions with all concerned officers and medical staff. He directly interacted with patients to understand what kind of problems they are facing and whether facilities are being made available on time. Dr Singh said that the Mann government’s objective is to ensure that every citizen receives the best healthcare services without any discrimination and that government hospitals have facilities comparable to private hospitals.
The Punjab government has made several significant improvements in the health sector over the past few months. Under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s leadership, initiatives like the Mohalla Clinic scheme, Aam Aadmi Clinics, and the arrangement of modern equipment in primary health centres have been launched. The purpose of these schemes is to provide better medical facilities to common citizens close to their homes so they don’t have to travel far for treatment. Regular inspections and ensuring accountability in this direction are the government’s priority.
During the inspection, Dr Balbir Singh also ensured that proper cleanliness is being maintained at health centres and patients are not facing any kind of inconvenience. He instructed medical personnel to be fully dedicated to their duties and treat patients with sensitivity. The MLA said that whatever shortcomings have been found, instructions will be issued to the concerned department to remove them immediately.

Many patients and their relatives said that such inspections lead to improvements in health centres and employees become more alert towards their responsibilities. A patient’s relative said, “This government is truly working for the people. When leaders themselves come and listen to our problems, we feel confident that our voice is being heard.”
