Phagwara Campus of LPU Rocked by Violent Assault Leaving 1 Dead and 2 Injured, Police Launches Investigation

PHAGWARA: A Horrifying Incident unfolded at the Law gate of Lovely Professional University (LPU) in Phagwara when a group of around 30 armed miscreants launched a brazen attack on a group of youths. The attackers with sharp weapons and firearms, unleashed a barrage of violence, including gunfire and explosives. Tragically, one young man lost his life in the attack, identified as Harpreet Singh, a resident of Singhpur, while two others sustained injuries.

Arjan Singh Rana, one of the injured victims, provided an account of the harrowing assault. He revealed that he, along with his brother Harpreet and their friend Saurabh, had been en route to another hostel to drop off their friend Mani. As they stood near the Law gate, a group of 25 to 30 individuals on motorcycles descended upon them. The attackers were armed with dangerous weapons, including sharp blades and even firearms.

In the terrifying moments that followed, it became apparent that some of the assailants were carrying pistols. Without warning, they initiated a brutal attack on the group of young men. Harpreet, who bore the brunt of the assault, was grievously injured, particularly on his head. He was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Jalandhar, where tragically, he succumbed to his injuries.

Arjan Singh Rana further identified some of the attackers by name, including Manohar, Roshan, Saba, and Abhishek, along with several unidentified individuals. Notably, Roshan, one of the assailants, is known to have associations with the local police. Following the incident, he reportedly left the scene in a police vehicle, and attempts were made to transport him away in a police car.
