Punjab's First 7D Auditorium: INR 21.17 Cr Project to Honour Shaheed Udham Singh in Sunam
Punjab is set to establish its first state-of-the-art 7D auditorium in Sunam, Sangrur, to preserve revolutionary history through modern technology. The project is dedicated to the legacy of Shaheed Udham Singh at his birthplace.
It is part of a larger INR 21.17 crore revamp of the martyr’s memorial complex. Cabinet Minister Aman Arora recently laid the foundation stone for the initiative, which aims to provide an immersive experience of the freedom struggle.
The revamped complex will feature a 7D auditorium designed to offer an experiential portrayal of the events that shaped the revolutionary’s path.
Key highlights of the project include a 20-foot brass statue of Shaheed Udham Singh, an eternally lit torch (mashaal), and a replica of the ‘Bloody Well’ from Jallianwala Bagh.
Additionally, a musical fountain depicting the map of India and two grand memorial gates will be constructed to honour the martyr’s sacrifice.
A state-of-the-art museum is also being developed within the complex to ensure the proper preservation and display of the martyr’s mortal remains and historical artefacts, which are currently kept under basic arrangements.
Minister Aman Arora stated that the project would present the unparalleled valour of Shaheed Udham Singh in a modern, engaging manner, inspiring future generations.
Beyond its historical significance, officials envision the complex as a major educational hub and tourist destination, highlighting Punjab's pivotal role in India's independence movement. The initiative reflects the government's commitment to reinforcing the legacy of India’s freedom fighters.
