Punjab School Revamp: Govt Releases INR 17.44 Crore to Renovate 852 Schools
The Punjab School Education Department has released over INR 17.44 crore for renovation works in 852 government schools across the state to enhance the learning environment. Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains sanctioned the initiative, which aims to create vibrant and conducive spaces for students by promoting a positive atmosphere for academic growth.
According to official data, the department has ensured an equitable distribution of funds. Amritsar has received the highest allocation of INR 1.6 crore, followed by significant grants for districts including Fazilka (INR 1.1 crore) and Gurdaspur ( INR 1.2 crore).
Minister Bains has directed all District Education Officers (Secondary) to transfer the amounts directly into the bank accounts of the respective School Management Committees (SMCs) to ensure transparency and community participation.
“A bright, clean, and visually organized school environment directly impacts children's concentration and learning experience,” Bains stated, adding that the goal is to bring infrastructure in line with modern educational standards.
