Permission has been granted for the extraction of sand from fields without approval until November 15

Punjab Cabinet Meeting Decisions Today latest news: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, after the cabinet meeting on Monday, made several announcements in favor of the flood-affected people in the state.

CM Mann granted permission for the "Jis Ka Khet, Us Ki Ret” policy under which the farmers are allowed to sell the sand accumulated on their fields. The cabinet announced Rs 20,000 for crop damage, while Rs 4 lakh compensation has been announced for the victim's family in case of death due to floods. Financial assistance will also be provided to the families whose houses collapsed in the flood-related incidents. The compensations will be provided to the victims following an in-depth survey.

The Chief Minister and his cabinet also extended the time period for repaying the debt of flood victims by six months, and no additional interest will be charged during this period.

Meanwhile, the villagers will be compensated for the loss of livestock as well, while a vaccination drive will also be initiated to prevent diseases in animals due to the flood.

Likewise, fogging machines will be provided to spray insecticide and disinfect areas. The cabinet also decided to set up camps in flood-affected villages, and senior doctors will be dispatched.

CM Mann also said the necessary medicines will reach all the villages and that a cleanliness drive will also be carried out in the state.

"Jis Ka Khet, Us Ki Ret”

The Punjab Government has granted permission for the extraction of sand from fields without approval until November 15, thus, 'Jis Ka Khet, Us Ki Ret'. There are several places where sand has covered the farms, and therefore, the owners have been allowed to extract the sand and sell it. 

Punjab witnessed the worst flood in the history of over four decades. Rescue and relief operations are still ongoing across the state. The educational institutions have been allowed to open as usual from September 9, except for a few where the DCs have been allowed to decide on the opening of schools, considering the current situation in the locality.

PM Narendra Modi's Punjab Visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Gurdaspur tomorrow, September 9. Earlier, the central government sent Union Minister for Agriculture, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, along with two central government teams comprising officials from different departments to assess the situation in the state.
