Punjab news, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan Punjab Visit, BJP Punjab Visit Today Latest News: Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, after taking stock of some of the flood-affected villages, including in Dera Baba Nanak, in Punjab on Thursday, said “There is a crisis of disaster in Punjab.”

Chouhan said, "There is a crisis of disaster in Punjab. I am here meeting my brothers and sisters, sharing their troubles. Sharing troubles lightens the burden a little, and we assure you that together we will overcome this crisis. Under the leadership of the Prime Minister, the Central Government stands with the brothers and sisters of Punjab with full sensitivity and strength."

The Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Rural Development, and MP Ravneet Singh Bittu, along with two teams from the centre, are assessing the flood situation in the state.  

The two teams comprise officials from various departments, including Agriculture, Finance, Road, Electricity and Water.

The first team would visit the villages of Fazilka, Ferozepur, and Bathinda, and the other would cover Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Kapurthala, and Jalandhar.

Over the next two days, these teams will assess the ground situation, evaluate the damage to livelihoods and submit a report to the centre.

Earlier in a separate post on X, Shivraj Singh Chouhan said, “The pain and loss cannot be estimated without going to the fields.”

He said, “We will not let the farmers lose heart; we stand firmly with them.”

In the morning today, Chouhan told the media that he has been sent by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The minister also held a meeting with public representatives and the local administration at Amritsar airport in the morning. In the meeting, Union Minister of State Ravneet Singh Bittu, BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh, BJP Punjab State President Sunil Jakhar, Punjab Agriculture Minister Gurmeet Singh Khuddian, Shwet Malik, Amar Pal Singh Boni, Harvinder Singh Sandhu, along with other distinguished public representatives, were present.

According to the information shared by Minister Ravneet Sigh Bittu, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan would visit flood-affected areas of Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, and Gurdaspur.

So far today, he has visited Ghonewal and Dharamkot Randhawa villages in Punjab’s border belt and Makoda Patan in Dera Baba Nanak.

Over 1400 villages in various districts of the state have been affected by the flood. The Punjab government has been requesting the central government for a special relief package and for the release of its due Rs 60,000 crores from the centre. However, the centre has not provided any assurance on these. 

The government has appealed to everyone to contribute to the Chief Minister's fund for flood relief.  Celebrities, including Diljit Dosanjh and Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh, have come forward to do their bit.
