Search Operation Continues to find the Young Man
SHAHKOT: A Tragic Incident unfolded on Thursday evening in the Chak Rame village of Shahkot when a young man disappeared in the swift currents of the Sutlej River while bathing. The victim, identified as Damanpreet (17), the son of Surinder Kumar Sonu from Talwandi Butian village in Shahkot, had ventured to the Sutlej River in Chak Rame with three companions.
As they reached the river, Damanpreet decided to take a dip in its waters. However, the ferocity of the river's flow proved to be overwhelming, and Damanpreet was swiftly swept away by the powerful currents, tragically losing his life by drowning. His companions made valiant efforts to locate and rescue him but were unable to do so.
Upon receiving information about the incident, Naib Tehsildar Gurdeep Singh Sandhu of Shahkot and ASI Kashmir Singh from the Model Police Station in Shahkot promptly arrived at the scene. Alongside a team of police personnel, they initiated search and rescue operations, enlisting the assistance of divers to locate the missing youth.
Investigating officer Kashmir Singh revealed that as the evening wore on, there were no developments or updates regarding the whereabouts of the young man. The situation remained dire, with authorities continuing their search efforts in the hope of finding Damanpreet.
