Entire Village gathered at the crematorium to pay their last respects to Tony

DERABASSI: In a Heart-Wrenching saga of delayed closure, the remains of 21-year-old Tony from Bukhari village in Dera Bassi finally returned to his hometown after an agonizing four-month wait. The young man's body was transported back to the village via plane, marking the end of an unsettling journey.

Upon arrival, Tony's body underwent a post-mortem examination at Derabassi Civil Hospital. However, the skies grew dim, casting a somber veil over the anticipated cremation ceremony.

Despite the shadows of despair, the entire village congregated at the crematorium to pay their last respects to Tony, the sole son of his family. Tony had tragically passed away four months earlier, but the family was only informed of his demise two months after the fact.

Tony's father, Ravinder, and maternal uncle, Mohan, revealed the harrowing ordeal they had endured to bring their beloved Tony back home. The delay in repatriating Tony's body was attributed to an NGO responsible for airlifting him and subsequently storing the body in a mortuary for an excruciating four-month period. The organization had allegedly demanded a staggering sum of Rs 7 lakh from the grieving family.
