Further investigations are underway to apprehend individuals

JALANDHAR: In a significant blow to drug trafficking in the region, the Jalandhar rural police have apprehended a notorious smuggler, Malkait Singh aka 'Kali,' and seized a substantial haul of 9 kilograms of heroin. This successful operation underscores the relentless efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat the drug menace in Punjab.

The Director General of Police (DGP) of Punjab, Gaurav Yadav, announced the major breakthrough. Malkait Singh and his associates were actively engaged in smuggling narcotics across the border, posing a grave threat to the state's security.

DGP Gaurav Yadav shared the development on a social media platform, stating, "The Jalandhar rural police achieved great success by arresting the drug smuggler Malkait Singh alias Kali and recovering 9 kg of heroin. The case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Thana Goraya, and further investigations are underway to apprehend individuals involved in the logistics of the drug consignment.
