Security Alert: Two Drones Seized at Amritsar & Tarn Taran Border Amidst Concerns of Smuggling Operations

AMRITSAR: In a significant development, the Border Security Force (BSF) and Punjab Police successfully conducted a joint operation, resulting in the recovery of two drones originating from Pakistan near the Amritsar and Tarn Taran border areas. The recovery of these drones has raised concerns as they are believed to be utilized by Pakistani smugglers for illegal activities.

Late at night, a peculiar sound near the border caught the attention of the joint team comprising BSF jawans and Punjab Police officials. In response to the unusual noise, the team promptly initiated a search operation in the vicinity. The search led to the discovery of a hexacopter drone in Ratan Khurd, a village situated along the Amritsar border.

The BSF jawans, who were on patrol duty, reported hearing the drone's sound originating from the Pakistan side in Ratan Khurd around 10 o'clock at night. In response, they took immediate action and began firing to deter any potential illegal activities. Subsequently, the drone's sound ceased, prompting the authorities to further investigate the matter.

The Punjab Police was informed about the incident the following morning, and a joint search operation was launched in the village of Ratan Khurd. The diligent efforts of the security forces led to the successful recovery of the drone from the fields near the village. The recovered drone has been sent to a forensic laboratory for detailed examination, with the aim of extracting information about its flights and operations.

Simultaneously, another drone was found in the Rajoke area of Tarn Taran, adding to the gravity of the situation. Promptly acting on information about the drone's movement, Punjab Police and BSF launched a coordinated search operation in Rajoke. Remarkably, this marks the first instance in August where two drones have been seized on the same day.
