To spread the anti-drug message, foot marches will be organized in 15,000 villages and wards across the state.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Aam Aadmi Party National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal inaugurated the second phase of the "War Against Drugs" campaign to eradicate the drug menace from the state.
The leaders also launched the "War Against Drugs" mobile app and the "Pind De Pehredar" (Village Guardians) missed call number 9899-100002.
Through this mobile app, members of the Village Development Committees (VDCs) can report drug-related activities in their areas, the Chief Minister said later in a post on his X, originally written in Punjabi and Hindi. He added that the identity of VDC members will be kept entirely confidential.
“A number has also been issued for the general public, on which citizens of the state can register as 'Pind De Pehredar' by giving a missed call,” CM Mann said, adding that his team would personally reach out to the registered numbers and involve them in awareness campaigns and community vigilance, making them active participants in the initiative.
The Chief Minister added that in order to spread the anti-drug message, foot marches will be organized in 15,000 villages and wards across the state.
“With your support, we will soon make the state free from the menace of drugs,” CM Mann said.
