In a major intelligence-led operation, the Punjab State Special Operations Cell (SSOC), SAS Nagar, in coordination with Counter Intelligence Ludhiana, has apprehended two accused who were planning a target killing and had conducted recce of government and prominent offices, police said.
According to DGP Punjab Police Gaurav Yadav, the arrested accused are residents of Ludhiana who were planning a targeted killing at the direction of foreign-based handlers.
The teams recovered one 9 mm pistol along with five live cartridges from the possession of the arrested accused.
As per the preliminary investigation, the DGP said that both accused were in contact with UK- and Germany-based handlers associated with the “Khalistan Commando Force (KCF) and linked to hardline extremist ideology”.
The DGP added that, on their handlers’ directions, both accused had conducted recce of government and prominent offices in "Ludhiana as part of the conspiracy."

“Additionally, both were tasked with gathering inputs & conducting groundwork related to a few more identified individuals,” the DGP said in a statement on X.
An FIR has been registered at PS SSOC, SAS Nagar, and further investigation is underway to uncover linkages, the DGP added.
Meanwhile, in a separate development, the DGP on Tuesday informed that Counter Intelligence Bathinda, in coordination with Bathinda Police, arrested three accused linked to the ‘Arsh Dalla gang’.
The DGP added that one of the arrested accused had recently arrived in Bathinda from Canada specifically to execute a target killing, as per the preliminary investigation.
Arms and ammunition, including four illegal pistols with four magazines, 26 live cartridges, and a car without a registration number, were recovered from their possession.
