Dr Balbir Singh Urges Private Hospitals to Join Rs 10L Health Cover
On Tuesday, Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Balbir Singh urged private hospitals in the state to be a part of the upcoming Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna (MMSY). This scheme provides comprehensive INR 10 lakh cashless health insurance cover per family aimed at removing financial barriers to medical treatment.
The minister made the appeal at a high-level meeting with senior representatives of major private healthcare providers, held at the office of the State Health Agency (SHA) in Chandigarh. According to an official statement, he was accompanied by Principal Secretary (Health and Family Welfare) Kumar Rahul and SHA CEO Sanyam Aggarwal.
Dr Singh emphasised that the state government is committed to ensuring universal access to quality, cashless healthcare for every family in Punjab. He described the INR 10 lakh cover as a transformative step toward that goal, officials said. He reiterated that active participation of private hospitals is crucial for the successful implementation and wide outreach of the scheme.
The minister appealed to private hospitals to complete empanelment formalities promptly so that residents can start availing treatment without any out-of-pocket expenditure once the scheme is operational. He underlined that this collaboration would strengthen the overall healthcare system in the state.
During the session, Dr Singh and SHA CEO Sanyam Aggarwal addressed operational and technical queries raised by hospital representatives, including issues related to treatment packages, the empanelment process, and the technical interface for cashless services under MMSY, according to officials present.
The meeting reflected the government’s drive to build a transparent, efficient healthcare ecosystem where no resident is denied treatment due to lack of funds, Dr Singh said. The Rs 10 lakh cashless insurance aims to make quality healthcare accessible to every family in Punjab.
