Chandigarh School Winter Holidays, Weather Update Latest News: A few days after the Chandigarh administration announced a change in the timings of all government, aided, and private schools in the city, the administration on Sunday announced that all schools for classes up to VIII will remain closed till January 14. 

Given dense fog and cold wave conditions in Chandigarh, the administration has recently announced that the schools may not open before 9:30 am and will have to close on or before 3 pm. Earlier, the timings of the government schools were from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm.

The order stated, “In view of the cold spell and predicted dense fog in the region, all government, government aided and private schools of UT Chandigarh for classes up to VIII shall remain closed up to 14.1.2024 (schools for these classes to reopen on 15.1.2024). Online classes may be conducted by the schools.”

In the meanwhile, it was also specified that the school timings for classes IX to XII should be as per the previous order.

Notably, the minimum temperature in Chandigarh was recorded at 6.5 degrees Celsius on Saturday while the maximum temperature was at 16.2 degrees Celsius. On January 4, the temperature in the city had plummeted to 5.7 degrees Celsius, the lowest record during this winter season. The India meteorological department has already issued a warning of dense to very dense fog in the city.
