Viral video is not recent but years old

MOHALI: A Video is circulating on social media in which a man wearing a Dumala (turban) can be seen being beaten up in a barber's shop. It is being claimed that a man wearing a turban has been caught while shaving his beard. This video is getting viral as a recent incident.

Facebook page "Nanak Fazilka Wala" shared the viral video claiming that a turbaned man was caught shaving his beard at a salon. (Viral post has been deleted by the page)

Rozana Spokesman found in its investigation that this viral video is not recent but years old. Now people are being misled by making old video viral again.

Starting the investigation, we first watched this video carefully and started searching for news related to the case through keyword search. We came across many news regarding this matter. All News were from the year 2022.

Facebook page "MERA PIND NADALA" shared the viral video on May 15, 2022 and wrote, "Dumala (Turban) wearing man caught shaving his beard, watch video"

This video is the real source of the viral video because the logo of "Mera Pind Nadala" can also be seen in the viral clip. As this video was said to be from Gurdaspur district of Punjab. We connected with our Gurdaspur in-charge Avtar Singh regarding the matter. Avtar said, "This video is from Batala, Gurdaspur and it is not recent but 2 years old."

"Spokesman does not confirm the official date of this video but does confirm that the video is from Batala, Gurdaspur and is at least a year old, not recent."
