Performance of Campus Managers & Security Guards will be Regularly Monitored by the Education Dept

MOHALI: The Punjab Education Department has issued directives pertaining to the appointment of campus managers and security guards in government schools across the state. This development also includes details about the schools selected for the first phase of this initiative and the newly appointed staff.

Campus managers have been assigned to 33 schools in Ludhiana, while an impressive 260 schools throughout the state have received these appointments. Notably, this staffing has been outsourced, a decision that has sparked debate and opposition among teachers.

However, proponents argue that this move aims to alleviate the workload on teachers. According to educators, rather than outsourcing these positions, individuals with a deep understanding of school operations should be deployed from within the government workforce.

The Role of Campus Managers is Multifaceted, with Responsibilities Including:

-- Pre-school Inspection: Campus managers are required to inspect the school premises half an hour before classes commence.

-- Supervision of Civil Works: They will oversee ongoing construction projects within the school and ensure timely completion.

-- Infrastructure Maintenance: Maintenance and upkeep of school infrastructure, optimal use of open spaces, and landscaping fall under their purview.

-- Coordination: Campus managers will coordinate with various school personnel, including stockkeepers, security personnel, and mid-day meal workers. Their responsibilities extend to all schools within their designated cluster.

In addition to the appointment of campus managers, the education department has also placed two security guards in 689 government senior secondary and high schools across the state. Fifty of these schools are situated in Ludhiana. The role of these security guards is to arrive one hour before school begins and remain on duty for one hour after recess. They are tasked with maintaining discipline at the school's entry gate and ensuring that students do not leave the premises without teacher authorization.

The performance of campus managers and security guards will be regularly monitored and reviewed by the education department. Among the Ludhiana schools benefitting from this initiative are Government Senior Secondary School Baddowal Cantonment, Doraha, Sahnewal Boys, Mundian Kalan, Samrala Boys, Jawahar Nagar Boys, Dadheri, Basti Jodhewal, Gill Girls, Dhandari Khurd, Ayali Khurd, Haibowal Khurd, Machhiwara Girls, Tharike, and Haibowal Kalan. These institutions will now benefit from the presence of campus managers and security guards to enhance overall school management and safety.
