The police have appealed to the public to inform them about anyone involved in promoting drug-related activities in their areas.
Under the “War Against Drugs” campaign, a team from the Commissionerate Police and the Municipal Corporation on Tuesday morning demolished an alleged illegal construction at the house of a drug trafficker located on Leather Complex Road in Bawa Khel.
The drug trafficker has been identified as Narinder, alias Bawa, a resident of Rajan Nagar.
As per information received, the accused has 15 cases registered against him, including five cases under the NDPS Act and nine cases under the Excise Act.
ACP West Aatish Bhatia stated that the Municipal Corporation had received information about the illegal construction and had issued several notices. However, no response was received. Following this, the Municipal Corporation, along with police teams, took action and demolished the encroaching illegal structure, the officer added.
A team from the Basti Bawa Khel police station was also present at the site during the demolition.
Police stated that they were informed in advance about the demolition by the civic officials and were present at the site to ensure that the officials did not face any difficulty during the operation.
