India Meteorological Department has issued a warning of dense fog for the next four days in Chandigarh.
Chandigarh School Timings Change Order, Weather Update Latest News: Given dense fog and cold wave conditions in Chandigarh, the timings of all government, aided, and private schools in the city have been changed. Now, the schools cannot open before 9:30 am and will have to close on or before 3 pm. As of now, the timings of the government schools are from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm.
Chandigarh administration has taken this decision due to the severe cold weather in the city. This decision will come into effect from January 8 and will remain till January 13. As per the India Meteorological Department's weather update in Chandigarh, the conditions are predicted to continue for the next few days.
At present, as many as 112 government schools are running in Chandigarh while there are 7 government-aided schools and 83 private-recognized schools. Apart from this, there are also 7 Central-Government Schools, Navodaya School Committee, and Air Force Schools in Chandigarh.

The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of dense fog for the next four days in Chandigarh. On January 5, the maximum temperature of the city was recorded at 14.3 degrees Celsius, which was 4 degrees below normal while the minimum temperature was recorded at 6.7 degrees Celsius, which was one degree below normal. On Thursday, for the first time in the season, the minimum temperature in Chandigarh reached 5.7 degrees Celsius.
On Friday, the minimum temperature increased by 1 degree, but the maximum temperature decreased by 2 degrees. Due to this, people were feeling more cold during the day.
