Union Minister and BJP leader Ravneet Singh Bittu, a former Congress leader, on Thursday said that the Congress party had turned into a “family affair,” which prompted him and several others to leave the party.
Speaking to news agency ANI outside Parliament, Bittu said, “When we were there in the Congress, we were winning seats for the party. We were never a burden on them. But when it became clear that the party had turned into a family affair and was no longer the Congress it once was, everyone started leaving.”

Commenting on the suspension of MPs, Bittu said that such situations were common during his time in the Congress. He alleged that MPs, including himself, used to raise issues in the House and were often suspended for their conduct.
However, he further alleged that if it were the “real Congress,” senior leaders like Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi would have climbed onto tables and faced suspension themselves, instead of other MPs.
