Nurturing Responsible Citizens - Punjab's Student Police Cadet Program Aims High

PATIALA: In an effort to promote discipline, safety, and civic responsibility among students, the Punjab School Education Department has announced the implementation of the Student Police Cadet Program in collaboration with the Punjab Police. A total of 280 government schools have been carefully selected to participate in this initiative, aiming to instill a sense of social responsibility and respect for law and order among the youth.

Each district in Punjab has been well-represented in the program, with different schools chosen to be part of this noble endeavor. To oversee the effective execution of the program, one teacher from each selected school has been appointed as the School Model Officer.

The chosen teachers, who will play a crucial role in shaping the minds of young cadets, are scheduled to undergo specialized training at the prestigious Punjab Police Academy in Phillaur. The training is scheduled to take place on the 7th and 8th of August, with the aim of equipping the teachers with the necessary skills and knowledge to guide and mentor the student cadets effectively.

Among the selected teachers, Amritsar has taken the lead with 20 teachers being chosen for this program. Ms. Sandeep Kaur and Ms. Veena Nilwal have been appointed as nodal officers to coordinate the efforts in their respective districts of Amritsar and Jalandhar.

Other districts that have actively participated in the program include Tarn Taran, Moga, Ropar, Fazilka, Sangrur, Ferozepur, Sri Muktsar Sahib, Barnala, Sri Fatehgarh Sahib, Bathinda, Mansa, Kapurthala, Hoshiarpur, Pathankot, Malerkotla, Faridkot, Mohali, Batala, Gurdaspur, and SBS Nagar, with 10 teachers from each of these districts being selected.

The highest number of participants, 30 teachers, has been selected from the district of Ludhiana, showcasing their commitment to creating a safer and more responsible society.

The Student Police Cadet Program is expected to provide students with valuable life skills, including leadership, teamwork, and communication, while also fostering a sense of pride in serving their community and country. By integrating classroom learning with hands-on experiences, the program aims to produce responsible citizens who will contribute positively to society.
