Transport Dept Records 19% hike in income in FY 2022-23 Compared to 2021-22: Laljit Singh Bhullar

CHANDIGARH: Punjab Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar said here today that the Transport Department has recorded an increase of Rs 661.51 crore in its income during 2022-23 compared to the financial year 2021-22.

He said that during the last financial year, the department received an income of Rs 4139.59 crore from its three wings Office of State Transport Commissioner (STC), Pepsu Road Transport Corporation (PRTC) and Punjab Roadways/Punbus which was Rs 3478.08 crore during the financial year 2021-22. He said that this increase in income is of 19.01 percent.

Giving wing-wise details, the Cabinet Minister said that the State Transport Commissioner's office had a total income of Rs 2358.96 crore from April 2021 to March 2022, which increased to Rs 2631.18 crore during the financial year 2022-23. He said that this increase of Rs 272.22 crore is 11.53 percent.

Transport Minister said that similarly PRTC earned Rs 807.53 crore during the financial year 2022-23 with an increase of Rs 235.49 crore as compared to Rs 572.04 crore from April 2021 to March 2022. He said that this increase is OF 41.16 percent.

Laljit Singh Bhullar while sharing the details of the income of Punjab Roadways/Punbus said that from April 2021 to March 2022, Punjab Roadways/Punbus earned Rs 547.08 crore. This income increased to Rs 700.88 crore during the financial year 2022-23. He said that this increase of Rs 153.80 crore is of 28.11 percent.

Cabinet Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar added that due to the transparent policies of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the transport department is on the path of progress and by accelerating this pace, the department will be taken to new heights.
