India has set a Guinness World Record for the “Most pledges received for an AI responsibility campaign in 24 hours,” with a total of 250,946 valid pledges submitted between February 16 and 17, Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw announced at the India AI Impact Summit. Vaishnaw credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for inspiring the nationwide campaign. The initiative aimed to motivate students to adopt AI responsibly and use it as a force for social good.

“It is his vision that guided our outreach to colleges, engagement with faculty, and encouragement of students to pledge to use AI for societal benefit and responsibility,” Vaishnaw stated.

He noted that participation far exceeded the initial goal of 5,000 pledges, showing strong public interest and growing awareness of responsible AI use.

Pravin Patel, Guinness World Records adjudicator, confirmed the achievement, saying, “India AI and Intel India, you are officially the Guinness World Records title holders for the most pledges received for an AI responsibility campaign in 24 hours.”

Vaishnaw also led discussions with industry leaders, global academics, policymakers, and technology experts to outline India’s AI priorities, particularly for the Manufacturing Engineering Technology ecosystem. He emphasised AI as a key part of India’s journey toward Viksit Bharat, enhancing productivity, competitiveness, and innovation.

The minister highlighted efforts to build an inclusive AI ecosystem supporting enterprises of all sizes, especially MSMEs, and preparing the workforce with future-ready skills. He praised NAMTECH for bringing together stakeholders to lead the shared national objective and urged leveraging momentum to develop advanced talent for India’s global manufacturing ambitions.
