Punjab Weather Updates: Expected to Remain Pleasant Throughout the Week
Punjab Weather Updates Today — The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Chandigarh, has issued no alerts for any districts of Punjab for today, August 3 in its general cast.
Similar weather conditions are expected to continue over the next five days in most parts of the state. However, the State Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for three northeastern districts of Punjab — Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, and Rupnagar — warning of heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning, squalls, and more, as per its latest update on 5th of August.
Now Cast:
In its nowcast, IMD Chandigarh has issued an orange warning for Sangrur district, forecasting moderate rain accompanied by light thunderstorms, with maximum surface wind speeds below 40 km/h. This nowcast is valid until 3 PM today.
Additionally, the IMD has issued a yellow alert for Patiala, warning of light rain. No alerts have been issued for the remaining districts in today’s nowcast.
Weather Observed in the Past 24 Hours:
In the past 24 hours, there has been a 0.9°C change in the average minimum temperature, which remains near normal.
The lowest minimum temperature in the state was 23.2°C, recorded at Thein Dam (AWS), Pathankot, while Hoshiarpur recorded the highest rainfall in the state at 44.5 mm.
Rainfall patterns across the country
Speaking to ANI about rainfall patterns across the country, IMD scientist Akhil Srivastava said, "An upper-east circulation has formed in the region adjoining Northeast Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh. Today, many areas of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar may witness heavy rainfall. A red alert has been issued for the region. Areas such as Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya may also receive heavy rainfall. Tamil Nadu and Kerala could witness heavy to very heavy rainfall. Delhi-NCR may experience light to moderate rainfall over the next three days."
