Robbery in Punjab’s Sangrur: A late-night robbery-cum-murder at a house near Vishwakarma Mandir in Ward No. 12 of Punjab’s Sangrur district left a young man dead and the house ransacked.
The incident occurred around 10 pm. The deceased’s mother, Savitri Devi, said that three young men with their faces covered entered her house. The unidentified assailants allegedly tied her hands, feet, and mouth first, and then her son as well.
She said she managed to escape by seizing an opportunity and alerted neighbours. However, by the time neighbours reached the spot, her son had already died.
The assailants ransacked cupboards and fled with household items and cash, she added.
Following the incident, Lehragaga police reached the spot and inspected the scene.
DSP Ranbir Singh said the police took the body into custody and registered a murder case based on the statements of the deceased’s family. He added that CCTV footage is being examined.
A forensic team from Sangrur also arrived at the scene.
