Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab on Wednesday, reacting to the failure of the second round of ministerial level meeting of the Union government

Chandigarh: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab on Wednesday, reacting to the failure of the second round of ministerial level meeting of the Union government with the agitating farmer organizations, said that the talks remained inconclusive due to the stubborn attitude and arrogance of the Modi government.

In a statement issued from party headquarters on Wednesday, state president and Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann cornered the BJP government at the Centre, questioning why Prime Minister Narendra Modi was running away from facing the farmers on the contentious farm laws.

Mann added that, on the one hand Prime Minister Narendra Modi was describing the new agriculture laws as ‘historic’ and ‘revolutionary’, while on the other hand, he was running away from facing the farmers fighting for their livelihood.

Bhagwant Mann said that the Prime Minister should shun his stubborn attitude and address the much awaited issues of the farmers, adding that the contentious farm laws enacted by the Union government had pushed both the agriculture and farmers into an abysmal situation, demanding immediate repeal of the controversial laws. Mann said “Teeming millions of beleaguered farmers of the country, including Punjab, are agitating on the Delhi-Haryana border amid bone-chilling winter nights”.

The Sangrur MP, taking exception to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh not participating in the crucial meeting with the farmer leaders, said that the second round of meeting remained inconclusive due to the anti-farm attitude and arrogance of the government.Bhagwant Mann, Narendra Modi and Captain Amarinder SinghBhagwant Mann, Narendra Modi and Captain Amarinder Singh

Taking a swipe at home minister Amit Shah, Bhagwant Mann said that he had enough time campaign in Hyderabad for the Municipal Corporation elections, but had no time to attend the meeting with the farmer bodies to end the stalemate, saying the move had exposed the anti-farmer face of the central BJP leaders.

Targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Bhagwant Mann said that the ‘Anaadaata’ was being treated as the country’s enemy, saying that Prime Minister could fly to Pakistan to cut a birthday cake of then Prime Minister Nawab Sharif, he had no time to resolve the farmers’ issues and concerns over the new farm laws.
