Jind’s Daughter Neha Dewan Karkra’s Historic First-Attempt Victory in Punjab & Haryana Judicial Exams
In a rare and historic achievement, Neha, a native of Jind in Haryana, has become the only woman to clear the Higher Judicial Service (HJS) examinations for both Punjab and Haryana. The results, recently announced, have sparked celebrations in both states as she prepares to take on her new role in the judiciary.
Neha managed to crack two of the most competitive higher judicial exams simultaneously in her first attempt. Neha’s dual success in the HJS exams is mirrored by her academic rigour as a guest lecturer at Panjab University (UILS), where she has become a well-regarded figure for her dual expertise in litigation and education.
Family members and local legal experts attributed her success to her unwavering dedication and rigorous study. Tracing her professional journey, Neha emphasised that her family's support was vital to her success. She specifically honoured her late mother and thanked her parents, her husband, and their son, Yuv Pratap, for their emotional support during her first-attempt victory in both states.
Her journey from a small-town background to simultaneous selection in two states stands out as a powerful example of determination and excellence in the legal profession. Neha’s dual success is expected to inspire young women across the region to pursue careers in the higher judiciary.
