The CM Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government is set to expand its service delivery framework with the establishment of 54 additional service centres. With newly established centres, the total number of service centres in the state will rise to 598. Aman Arora, Minister for Governance Reforms and Information Technology (GG&IT), made the announcement for the expansion. With this initiative, the state government continues its efforts to strengthen citizen-centric governance after achieving the remarkable distinction of recording the lowest pendency rate in the country.

The announcement followed a detailed review meeting chaired by the minister at MAGSIPA. The meeting was focused on citizen service delivery and the functioning of service centres. Senior departmental officials attended the meeting, while all deputy commissioners joined through video conferencing. Additional Chief Secretary D.K. Tiwari and Director (GG&IT) Vishesh Sarangal were also present.

The performance of the existing 544 service centres across Punjab was reviewed in the meeting; out of these, 263 are urban centres and 281 are rural centres. These self-sustaining centres are currently delivering 465 government-to-citizen (G2C) services and seven business-to-citizen (B2C) services. Discussions were regarding pendency status, service-wise outcomes, objections raised by officials, and the mechanism of online field verification. The number of “send back” cases has declined, reflecting a reduction in avoidable objections.

Aman Arora reaffirmed the government’s resolve to achieve zero pendency and instructed Deputy Commissioners to ensure that all services are provided strictly within the prescribed timelines.

He further said that districts will be rewarded on the basis of demonstrating superior performance in application processing and officers achieving zero pendency will be honoured. The minister also commended district administrations for ensuring complete participation of field verification authorities, including Patwaris, Sarpanches, Numberdars, and Municipal Councillors, in online verification through e-Seva, m-Seva, and WhatsApp. He informed that nearly four lakh applications had been received for online verification, with 96.3 per cent already processed.

Aman Arora directed that construction work for all new service centres must be completed by January 15, 2026.

The Punjab government also has introduced the ‘Government at Your Doorstep’ initiative along with the Citizen Service Delivery Portal (connect.punjab.gov.in) to improve service accessibility, efficiency, and overall user experience.
