District Magistrate Takes Proactive Measures to Manage Fuel Shortage Amid Ongoing Strike

Transport Strike Latest News: In response to the ongoing strike by fuel tanker drivers leading to a restricted supply of petrol and diesel in the Union Territory (UT) of Chandigarh, the District Magistrate has issued orders imposing temporary restrictions on fuel sales at gas stations within the region. This move comes into effect immediately and aims to address the challenges posed by the limited availability of fuel during this period of disruption.

Under the imposed limitations, two-wheelers are now restricted to a maximum of 2 litres of fuel per transaction, with a cap of Rs 200, while four-wheelers are limited to 5 litres, not exceeding a maximum value of Rs 500 per transaction. The District Magistrate emphasized that these measures are a proactive step to ensure the equitable distribution of fuel among residents during the temporary disruption.

Fuel station operators have been urged to comply strictly with these regulations, and consumers are kindly requested to cooperate with the imposed restrictions for the collective well-being of the community. The District Magistrate clarified that these measures are precautionary and are intended to manage the situation until normalcy is restored in the fuel supply chain.

Efforts are currently underway to resume the supply of fuel to the UT of Chandigarh. The District Magistrate is coordinating with Oil Marketing Companies and the States of Punjab and Haryana to address the challenges posed by the ongoing strike and to expedite the restoration of normal fuel supply in the region.

The District Administration reassures residents that every possible step is being taken to mitigate the impact of the fuel shortage, and updates will be provided as the situation evolves.
