Dr. Amarinder Singh Malhi News: In a testament to academic brilliance, Dr. Amarinder Singh Malhi from Amritsar's Government Medical College has become the second Asian to attain a Doctorate of Medicine (DM) in Cardiovascular Radiology and Endovascular Interventions from the prestigious AIIMS New Delhi. Dr. Malhi's journey, from pursuing his MBBS at Government Medical College to this remarkable achievement, showcases the potential for excellence within the state.

When Dr. Malhi embarked on his MBBS journey at Government Medical College in Amritsar, little did he envision that it would lead to a significant milestone for both him and the state. Today, he stands as a testament to dedication and academic prowess, having achieved the rare distinction of being the second student in Asia to enroll in the DM course in Cardiovascular Radiology and Endovascular Interventions at AIIMS New Delhi.

Following the completion of his MBBS, Dr. Malhi pursued MD Radiodiagnosis at Dayanand Medical College in Ludhiana, further honing his skills and expertise. His academic journey reached its zenith when he was accepted into the prestigious DM program at AIIMS, a course that commenced in 2016, with Dr. Malhi securing the distinction of being only the second student to enroll.

Currently serving as an assistant professor at AIIMS Delhi in the Department of Radiodiagnosis and Intervention Radiology, Dr. Malhi emphasizes the need to strengthen medical academic structures in India to curb the ongoing brain drain. Expressing his commitment to the nation, Dr. Malhi chose to remain in India, advocating for measures to retain talented medical professionals within the country.

"As an individual conscious of my duty to the nation, I decided to stay back in India. However, to halt the trend of students leaving, there must be concerted efforts to bolster medical and health educational infrastructure," remarked Dr. Malhi. His achievement not only brings pride to Amritsar but also underscores the importance of nurturing and retaining top-tier talent within the country's medical and academic landscapes.
