Rain to lash Punjab & Other States, Weather Dept Issued an Alert

Light to moderate rain will be recorded across the state on April 3

CHANDIGARH: Many parts of Punjab and Haryana recorded a drop in temperature on Friday due to continuous rain. According to the Meteorological Department, rain lashed many areas including Amritsar, Patiala, Ludhiana, Fatehgarh Sahib, Faridkot, Rupnagar, Mohali in Punjab. Rain was also recorded in Ambala, Hisar, Panchkula, Karnal and Narnaul of Haryana. The department has predicted light to moderate rain in Punjab and other states in the next two days. 

The rainfall lashed at a time when the wheat crop is almost ready for harvesting. Due to this rain, the crops of the farmers have been severely damaged. Due to this, the Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert from April 1 to 4. Strong winds, rain and hailstorm are likely to occur in most parts of Punjab on April 3 and 4.

According to Manmohan Singh, director of the Chandigarh center of the Meteorological Department, the weather will be clear in Punjab after April 5 and the temperature will increase. Apart from this, rain is likely to occur in many states including Delhi in addition to the hilly Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand. Light to moderate rain will be recorded across the state on April 3 due to the influence of Western Disturbance.
