welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his arrival at Sri Guru Ravidas Airport, Adampur on Sunday afternoon.
Cabinet Ministers Harpal Singh Cheema and Mahinder Bhagat, along with administrative officials, welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his arrival at Sri Guru Ravidas Airport, Adampur on Sunday afternoon.
PM Modi is set to rename the Adampur airport after Sant Guru Ravidas officially. According to the report, the visit combines a significant infrastructure push with a major symbolic outreach to the Ravidas community ahead of the Punjab Assembly elections.
The Prime Minister will also unveil a plaque at Adampur and virtually inaugurate the new terminal of the Halwara airport. He will later today proceed to a public function at Dera Sachkhand Ballan, the spiritual headquarters of the Ravidas community, to mark the 649th birth anniversary of the saint.
Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann also urged the Centre to name the airport after Guru Ravidas. The visit is being viewed as politically significant, particularly in the Doaba region, where the community holds substantial influence. This outreach is further highlighted by the recent Padma Shri award conferred upon Sant Niranjan Das, head of Dera Sachkhand Ballan, according to a report by Rozana spokesman.
