Health Minister JP Nadda said that the health policies made under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi are working properly.
New Delhi: Congress MP from Ludhiana, Raja Warring, on Friday slammed the Central Government during his speech in the Parliament for not providing free treatment for cancer.
During the fifth day of the Parliament's Monsoon Session, Ludhiana MP Raja Warring asked the Central Government if cancer patients could get free treatment.
He said, "People are dying due to lack of treatment for cancer due to lack of money. On one hand, the BJP government talks big that we are the fastest growing economy and, on the other hand, our countrymen are dying due to the lack of treatment. Why is the government not providing free treatment for this? When someone has cancer in his family, his entire family dies along with him, so it is very important that the treatment for this should be done for free so that the already suffering families do not have to suffer more."
Responding to this, Health Minister JP Nadda said that the health policies made under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi are working properly and that the government is making continuous efforts to increase the availability of cancer drugs.
He further said that under the Ayushman Yojana, treatment up to 5 lakh is provided free of charge, and more than 10 crore people are connected with it. He said that the treatment of those below the poverty line is also provided free of charge.
