The wait is over! Get ready for Lok Sabha Elections 2024.

Lok Sabha Elections 2024 Date and Schedule: In a major development, the Election Commission of India on Saturday announced the date and schedule for the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2024. The elections for 543 seats would be held in 7 phases. The result would be declared on June 4. 

There are a total of 1 crore 80 lakh voters who will take part in the upcoming elections. As many as 55 lakh EVMs have been deployed for the same. Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said, "We have 97 crore registered voters, 10.5 lakhs polling stations, 1.5 crores polling officials and security staff, 55 lakhs EVMs, 4 lakhs vehicles."

"The terms of the Legislative Assemblies of Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh, and Sikkim are also due to expire in June 2024. Elections are due in Jammu and Kashmir..." he said. He further said, "We have a total of 96.8 crore electors. We have 1.8 crore first-time voters and 19.47 crore voters between the age group of 20-29 years..."

Phase 1 — Date for Polling: April 19, 2024

Phase 3 — Date for Polling: May 07, 2024

Phase 4 — Date for Polling: May 13, 2024

Phase 6 — Date for Polling: May 25, 2024

Phase 7 — Date for Polling: June 1, 2024चुनाव

In the meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party has kept the target of 'Is Baar 400 Paar' for the Lok Sabha elections 2024.  

It may be recalled that the General elections 2024 were held in India in seven phases from 11 April to 19 May 2019. The votes were counted and the result was declared on May 23, 2019.

During the Lok Sabha elections 2019, the BJP party had marked a landslide victory winning 303 seats, and formed the government. Around 912 million people were eligible to vote, while voter turnout was over 67 percent – the highest ever, as well as the highest ever participation by women voters.
