The visit was described as a thanksgiving gesture after the successful conduct of a three-day religious programme at the Red Fort in Delhi marking the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur.

Ministers Parvesh Sahib Singh, Ashish Sood, Kapil Mishra, Ravindra Indraj and Manjinder Singh Sirsa accompanied the CM, Rekha.

The Chief Minister described the Gurmat Samagam at Red Fort as an “extraordinary success” – achieved with the “grace of Guru Sahib”, even after the tense atmosphere caused by a terror incident just a day before the start of the event in November. The government claimed that more than six lakh devotees participated in the event without any disruption.

The delegation’s itinerary reportedly also includes planned visits to other religious sites in Amritsar, namely the Durgiana Temple and Valmiki Tirath, to offer prayers and gratitude.

The Chief Minister and ministers were welcomed by local party leaders led by district president Harvinder Singh Sandhu upon arrival at the city’s airport.

The visit is a symbolic gratitude visit by the Delhi government’s top leadership to religious institutions to acknowledge the peaceful conduct of the Red Fort event commemorating Guru Tegh Bahadur’s martyrdom.
