Manjinder Singh Sirsa Denies Firing Rumours, Calls Reports "Completely False"

Firing on Manjinder Singh Sirsa is FAKE NEWS: Senior BJP leader and Delhi Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa has categorically denied reports of a firing incident targeting him, calling the viral claims “completely false.”

Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Sirsa wrote: “There is a rumour going around about a firing targeting me. It’s completely false.”

His clarification comes amid a wave of misinformation that spread Wednesday, claiming that Sirsa was attacked by unidentified assailants during a visit to Khyala and Vishnu Garden, where he has been actively protesting against illegal factories. Several unverified reports had suggested that shots were fired while he was attempting to seal such units, leading to widespread concern and confusion.

Soon after the rumours gained traction, the Delhi Police also stepped in to dismiss the claims, stating there was no such incident and urging the public not to spread baseless news. A senior police official confirmed, “No firing took place. The circulating reports are entirely fabricated.”

Sirsa, who currently serves as the Minister of Food-Supply, Industry, Forest and Environment in the Delhi Government, has long been known for his activism against unregulated industrial setups and is a key figure in Delhi’s Punjabi community. He was elected from the Rajouri Garden constituency and previously held leadership roles in the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee.

The rumour, which falsely suggested an attempt on his life, triggered alarm across political and public circles until both Sirsa and the police stepped forward with clarifications.

This incident has once again highlighted the dangers of misinformation and the urgent need for responsible media practices and fact-checking, especially when the safety of public figures is involved.
