Woman civic official & clerk held for accepting bribe

Thane: A woman official of Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation (UMC) and a clerk were today arrested by the ACB for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000, officials said.  

Those arrested were identified as Assistant Commissioner of UMC's Legal Department Chhaya Dangle (44) and a clerk in the same department Deepak Mangtani (48), they added.

They had demanded Rs 60,000 from the complainant in connection with a construction case.  

Based on the complaint, the Thane unit of ACB laid a trap and nabbed the duo while accepting the bribe amount of Rs 50,000, the anti-graft agency said. They have been booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. PTI
