Three held for robbing people

New Delhi: Three persons, including a student preparing for engineering exams, were arrested for allegedly robbing people during evening walks in parks.

The accused has been identified as Shahid (24), Deepak, (21) and Saifi Siddaqui (19), all residents of Malviya Nagar.


Police have recovered two stolen mobile phones from them and claimed to have solved six cases of robbery.

On December 19, the police received a complaint from a person being robbed of his mobile phone and cash by three persons at Vijay Mandal Park in Begumpur.

Police reached the spot and while looking for the accused reached Bakshi Park where the complainant identified three persons sitting in a corner of the park.

"On seeing the police team, the accused persons tried to escape from the spot, but were nabbed," a senior police official said.

During interrogation, it came to light that the accused were involved in several cases of robbery, he said, adding that they are drug addicts and started robbing people to bear the expenses of drugs.  PTI
