
Bikaner: Seven persons, including a pregnant
woman, were killed and over a dozen injured today in a head-on
collision between a state transport bus and a pick-up jeep in
the Nokha police station area of Bikaner district, police
said.
The accident took place on the Nokha-Sujangarh state
highway in the early hours.
Seven, including a pregnant woman and two other women,
died while over a dozen injured were undergoing treatment at
Bikaner's PBM Hospital, SHO Nokha Manoj Sharma said.
He said the deceased were identified as jeep driver
Manglaram (65), Sovti (17), Danaram (42), Mukesh (12), Sugni
(55), Sitaram (25) and Sushila (20).
Passengers in the jeep were returning to Nokha after
taking part in a feast in Akhnisar village, the official said.
The jeep was overloaded, he added.
The bus was on the way to Sujangarh from Nokha, he added.
Bodies were handed over to family members after post-
mortem.
Union minister Arjunram Meghwal expressed grief on tragic
incident. Bikaner IG, B K Pandey and district president
Sushila Sinwar met the injured undergoing treatment and wished
for their speedy recovery.
