Hundreds of Delhities today converged at Connaught Place to see and
support exhibition organized to muster support for seeking ban on
Hookah Bars in national capital. This exhibition has been organized by
Delhi SAD-BJP MLA and Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC)
General Secretary S. Manjinder Singh Sirsa who has dedicated it to the
youth Gurpreet Singh who lost his life after a murderous attack on him
when he had resisted smoking on public places.
The Inaugural function was graced by DSGMC President S. Manjit Singh
GK who announced to support this cause and initiative taken by S. Sirsa
and said that these bars were a curse on our society and we will
wholeheartedly support this effort to ensure that hookah bars are banned
in capital.
S. Sirsa, on the occasion, said that this is a historic opportunity in
the national capital as for first such exhibition has been organized for
muster support for a common cause which is destroying our social
fabric. He said that Hookah Bars are destroying the youth of national
capital but the government was in deep slumber and least cared to save
the youth. He said that now an initiative has been taken and he was
thankful to hundreds of persons who have gathered on the occasion to
support the action of seeking ban on these bars in national capital.
He further said the exhibition aims to spread a message on the
ill-effects of smoking hookah and its main motive is to get enforced a
complete ban on Hookah Bars in Delhi.
He also said that Hookah smoking is far more dangerous than the
cigarette smoking. In one session a smoker can inhale the smoke
equivalent to 150 cigarettes smoking. He said that youngsters in the
age group of 13-15 were worst hit by Hookah addiction and it was most
unfortunate that 2500 Indians are daily falling in death trap because of
this addiction.
He also said that states including Punjab, Haryana
have already imposed ban on Hookah bars in their states. S. Sirsa disclosed that eminent personalities of the society
including General JJ Singh former chief of Indian Army, Manoj Tiwari MP
and President BJP Delhi, KTS Tulsi Advocate and MP, Parvesh Sahib Singh
Verma MP, Mahesh Giri MP, Vikramjit Singh Sahney Padma Sri, Anjana Om
Kashyap national icon journalist have decided to support the campaign
against Hookah bars in Delhi and support this cause.
