Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal and Delhi Chief Minister, Mr Arvind Kejriwal have convened a joint meeting to discuss residue burning and vehicular pollution issues here today.

In a joint statement issued here today, both the Chief Ministers recognized their deep and shared concern over the recent episode of heavy smog in National Capital Region. They agreed upon the need for action on many measures aimed at preventing its re-occurrence in the winter of 2018.

During the discussions, both the states agreed that the serious heatlh risks to which such episodes of smog expose one and all require concrete and quick action on a number of fronts. They resolve to put in sustained efforts in pursuance of the jointly identified action points in the coming days, weeks and months.

Both, Haryana and Delhi look forward to covering other sources of air and water pollution in future discussions.

Haryana Environment Minister, Mr Vipul Goel, Delhi Environment Minsiter, Mr Imran Hussain, Haryana Chief Secretary, Mr D.S.Dhesi, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Mr Rajesh Khullar, Additional Chief Secretary, Environment, Mrs. Dheera Khandelwal, Additional Chief Secretary, Transport, Mr R.R. Jowel, Additional Chief Secretary, Home, Mr S.S. Prasad, Director General of Police, Mr B.S. Sandhu, Environment Secretary, Delhi Mr Keshav Chandra, Advisor Delhi Chief Minister, Mr V.K. Jain, Director, Information, Public Relations and Langusges Department, Mr Sameer Pal Srow and other senior officers of both the states were also presnt in the meeting.
