Foggy weather conditions prevail in Punjab, Haryana

Chandigarh: Foggy weather conditions today prevailed in Punjab and Haryana even as the minimum temperatures hovered around normal levels in both the states. Fog enveloped most parts including Ludhiana, Patiala, Amritsar, Karnal, Kurukshetra, Hisar and Ambala of Punjab and Haryana, an official of the Meteorological department said here.

Normal movement of vehicular traffic was also affected at many places in the two states due to fog. People of Chandigarh woke up to a cold morning with the minimum temperature settling at 12.6 degrees Celsius. However, it was five notches above normal. In Haryana, Ambala, Hisar and Karnal experienced cold weather conditions at 10.9 degrees Celsius, 7.7 degrees Celsius and 9.8 degrees Celsius, respectively. 


Narnaul was the coldest place in the region with a low of 6.3 degrees Celsius while Rohtak's minimum was 9.7 degrees Celsius. In Punjab, Amritsar recorded a minimum of 9.4 degrees Celsius while a minimum of Patiala and Ludhiana was 9.3 and 10 degrees Celsius respectively, up to two notches above normal.
