Dera verdict: 3 states fortified, cops, admn on toes

Munish Nagar: The entire government machinery of UT, Punjab and Haryana have been busy in making arrangements for the Friday when the Special CBI court would announce the final verdict against the Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in rape case.

The cops and the bureaucracy is on toes to prevent any mishap due to the verdict as the supporters of dera already threatened the authorities that if the decision comes against their head then they would come out on roads.

The headquarters of Dera is located at Sirsa district in Haryana and the city shares boundary with Muktsar, Punjab. It’s a tricky situation for the police force of Chandigarh, Punjab and Haryana.

The Chief Minister of Punjab, Capt Amarinder Singh has been constantly in touch with the DGP Suresh Arora to get the security updates of Mansa, Bathinda and Ludhiana.

Police and paramilitary forces have conducted flag march at Moga with Rapid Action force and even the section 144 of the CrPC has been imposed in some parts of Punjab on Friday.

Paramilitary forces have been deployed in Haryana and Punjab to tackle the situation. Even the Haryana police advised the Panchkula lawyers to avoid certain roots.

Chandigarh Police is also prepared to help the Haryana Police on the day of verdict as the dera head has been directed to appear in the court on Friday.

Earlier, Punjab had witnessed riots a decade ago when Dera head pretended himself like the tenth Guru Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
