Assam Rifles seizes gold worth Rs 6 crore

Imphal: Assam Rifles personnel seized 140 gold bars worth around Rs 6 crore from a truck in Tengnoupal district, a Customs official said today.   

Superintendent of Customs Preventive Force, WHK Luwang said the gold bars were seized from a truck during checking of the vehicle along the Moreh-Imphal highway in Tengnoupal district by the Assam Rifles personnel last evening.

The truck was heading towards Imphal from the Indo-Myanmar border town of Moreh when it was intercepted by the Assam Rifles personnel near Moreh town.   

Luwang said "the truck driver Md Kamal Hassan, along with the seized gold bars were handed over to Customs official today by the Assam Rifles" and further investigation is on. PTI
